Rally training

Pet dog training...

Making man's best friend into your best friend...

New Kennel Club Rally Competition on Saturday 13th July 2019. Hosted By Durham County Canine Association with the support of Curlabull Canine Training. Schedule out soon.

Rally Training

Rally is the very latest dog sport to be recognised by the Kennel Club.  It's fun and no matter what level you and your dog may be at it's easy to get involved and start training and competing.

Rally involves you and your dog working as a team to navigate a course with numbered signs indicating different exercises to perform; think of it as a sort of 'obedience exercise obstacle course' including simple exercises.

The course is set by the judge or trainer.  There is no pause between exercises - you and your dog work briskly through the course without direction from the judge. You are encouraged to talk to and praise your dog during the performance. Any dog can get involved; your dog does not have to be a pedigree dog to take part, but if you want to compete it must be registered with the Kennel Club on either the Breed Register or the Activity Register. Curlabull Rally Training

We are the first in County Durham to offer these Kennel Club Rally training classes and are very excited in helping handlers build strong bonds with their dogs through this type of positive training.

You do not have to be interested in competing to attend these classes, just the want to train your dog in a fun and exciting way.

These classes would also suit handlers who want to do something extra with their dog but for whom, agility would not suit the dog or the handler.

Classes will be kept small (6 dogs per group) to allow for ample opportunities for qualtiy training.

Rally training happens on Wednesday evenings at Leadgate Community Centre. 7pm to 9pm

One hour courses run for 6 weeks and are trained indoors and when possible outdoors.

Beginners and more experienced dogs are welcome, but as with Agility and Good Citizen Classes these are not courses for dogs with reactivity issues or behavioural concerns. For such dogs please refer to our behavioural services.

It is anticipated that the dog will have completed some basic training before starting this course, such as the Kennel Club Puppy Foundation course or similar training.

Next course dates are

Wednesday - 24th March 2019 7pm Level One and Two - Beginners Course, for absolute beginners. Learn what the signs mean, how to complete a course and how the sport is scored. Practise on simple courses.

Wednesday - 24th March 2019 8pm Level One and Three - Practise and Progresssion Course, Fine tuning on the elements that make up a course and lots of course practise.
