Puppy & Beginner Classes

This fantastic course was designed with the latest scientific evidence, by a qualified behaviourist, and incorporates the Kennel Club ideals of what initial training should cover. Completing this course will help owner and dog, better understand each other and allow for easier communication and a better bond. The course allows for the dog to interact with other dogs in a safe way but without the inherent dangers of "free for all" play sessions, which scientific evidence now suggests do so much damage to young dogs and pups. Your pup will learn that you are their central focus in life and that being with you is fun and comforting. Our course helps puppies through their difficult stages and covers a wide range of training  issues that puppy owners and new dog owners find frustrating and difficult to over come. We help pup and dogs break out of bad habits and to become better members of their household.

The  Puppy / Starter Class training covers a wide range of skills in a supportive and comfortable environment.

  • Correct socialisation with dogs and people
  • Food manners
  • Grooming
  • Safe play
  • Walking on a lead
  • Not jumping up
  • Sit, down and stand
  • Puppy Recall
  • Learning to wait
  • Being handled by people
  • Training for the vets.
  • Basic canine first aid - clinical readings
  • Chewing & biting control
  • Leaving objects
  • Controlling barking
  • How to use rewards effectively

We give you the skills to teach your dog, every day in every location, without force and discomfort. Building a bond between you and your dog. If you only ever do one course with your puppy this is the one to do, it will teach you the skills to train your dog for life.

Charie is a typical Cocker- A 3 ring Circus going on in his head most of the time but just wants to play with other dogs. Tips learned in class definately have helped and he has improved week by week. Would recommend anyone to do the puppy class, for us they have been invaluable. Thank you, Monica, Darren with Charlie.

The enthusiasm and expereince of Mechelle, encourages good practice and this does become a desire to be able to  fully enjoy your dog. Would recommend to anyone with a young dog. Claire and Ted

Learnt loads, both about the dog and me as a handler. All owners should do this course. Karen and Nenet

I previously attended a dog school in Oxford which I thought was good, however having now attended Curlabull Training I strongly believe it is the best training club you are likely to find. Mechelle's approach to training and knowledge of all breeds really does make training, even difficult breeds, a pleasure. So happy I discovered Curlabull Canine Training. Our Akita Sam is such a chilled male akita and I strongly believe this is down to attending training with Curlabull. Julie with Akira and Sam

I recently adopted an 18mth old Cairn terrier, who is absolutely lovely and friendly with people including children but growlly and very reactive with other dogs.

I signed us up for puppy classes as I had never dealt with a dog with issues.

Mechelle and Amanda are very welcoming and both are hugely knowledgeable about training and the psychology of a dog.

They have given me the encouragement, skills and confidence needed to deal with Brian growling at other dogs and at the end of the course he was like a different dog.

We both enjoyed the classes and I now feel like I have a great bond with Brian.

We look forward to joining the Bronze good citizen class.

Thanks so much! Susan and Brian
